The world is moving towards a sustainable lifestyle at a rapid pace. With issues like climate change, increase in carbon footprint, biodiversity loss amongst other environmental concerns that the planet is facing right now, a conscious and mindful way of living is the only way one can ensure a liveable future.
Adopting renewable sources of energy has not only become the ideal choice, in such a situation, but also convenient with solar solutions being affordable and readily available in the country.
Middle East Fuji LLC inaugurated a 176 kWp capacity rooftop solar power plant in their Head Office in Al Quoz, Dubai.
This rooftop solar power plant has been set up using 440 Nos solar panels which have been manufactured by a Tier One solar panel manufacturer. The complete system was designed, installed & commissioned by a Dubai based company SWME Control System Trading LLC.
The biggest advantage of installing rooftop solar panels is that they offer cost savings. For building owners, rooftop solar installations can even help in cutting down electricity bills. Rooftop panels supply electricity to buildings, so they need to buy less electricity.
The chief factor that accentuates the importance of rooftop solar panels is that they require very less maintenance. They come with a service life of over 20 years with proper maintenance.
The installed solar system will generate approx.. 250 MWhr of energy per year and this results to approx. 250 Tons of CO2 reduction in a year.
How it Works?
DEWA’s Shams Dubai solar program is based on the principle of ‘net metering’. This allows customers to install solar panels to produce their own power, reducing their electricity bill every month. Any surplus electricity not used immediately is sold back to the grid at the same price, and at the end of the month only the net amount is billed to the customer. Should a customer produce more energy in one month than he / she has consumed, DEWA allows rolling over these kWhs to the next month.
The big advantage of net metering is that customers stay connected to DEWA’s grid, thereby combining the 24/7 reliability of a grid connection with the lower costs of solar energy
